Setcrete’s high-performance floor preparation products have been used to complete an extensive kitchen renovation in super-fast time. Setcrete Rapid Set DPM and fast drying Acrylic Primer allowed contractors to complete the renovation at the 180-year-old property in Belmont, Lancashire, before the arrival of new kitchen fittings.
After removing the existing floorcovering, preparing the base and conducting relative humidity (RH) tests, contractors at TJB Joinery and Building found that only part of the concrete subfloor had been previously damp proofed. Prior to the installation of the new floorcovering, Setcrete Rapid Set DPM was installed over the entire area to provide a barrier against rising damp. Setcrete’s high-performance damp proof membrane comes colour pigmented to ensure an effective, uniform coverage. Curing in just three hours, the solvent-free, two-part epoxy resin provides a rapid solution to floors requiring robust protection from subfloor moisture, in a single application.
To ensure a perfect finish for the new floor tile installation, the contractors then applied fast drying Setcrete Acrylic Primer, prior to the installation of a floor levelling compound. The easy to use primer promotes the adhesion of levelling compounds to both absorbent and non-absorbent floor types, and dries in as little as 20 minutes. By using such rapid setting products, contractors were able to finish the floor installation in a single day, meaning the job was completed in time for the arrival of the new kitchen fittings.
Steve Taylor of TJB Joinery and Building commented on using Setcrete Rapid Set DPM: “We needed a fast drying product, and that’s what we got. It does exactly what it says on the label; easy to apply, cures in three hours, and reliably prevents moisture damage.” He further commented: “I won’t have any doubts about using Setcrete products the next time I need a job finished quickly. The speed is impressive, and the quality of the finished floor is excellent.”
